From poetry to the performance art
Number 1295

Let’s talk about your professional style, combination of children’s poetry and Iranian instrument and that how did you get there?
⁃ First of all I want to mention that I am not the only person who has this unique style and it has a history in Iranian music. Perhaps the difference is my solo performance with instrument and a method of story telling or music narration which itself,if we consider carefully, has a thousand years of history. The Bakshis and Ashiqs in Azerbaijan are the current heirs. Actually my avant-garde experiences in adult poetry drove my attention to these sources and to revive them in an up to date style.
⁃ In children’s music, indeed , I present a kind of performance that is neither theater nor pure music. The music of these prices is mostly inspired by unofficial parts of the tradition of the Iran’s music like: Motrebi, Rouhozi and Pishpardeh khani ; Since I see a great potential there to use in children’s music. I have always had an interest in the unofficial or colloquial areas and have searched them to find out what capacities they have that have not bloomed or remained silent for any reason.
